Snapshot Stories: Transitions


A single moment can contain an entire story, and in this 'Snapshot Stories' series we'll share the stories of these moments on The World Tri. 

 

In this photo, Charlie dips his rear tire into the English Channel near Cap Gris Nez (pronounced "cap-gre-nay"), France, at the exact point he emerged from the water after swimming across the English Channel just three days ago.  Charlie begins on a mountain bike so that he can climb the rocky cliffs that rise bluntly out from the sea before they transition into the rolling hills of northern France.

[Photo Gallery] Tour of London


While Charlie ran his way through London earlier this week, the rest of The World Tri Expedition team took the chance to take a quick whirlwind touristy tour of Central London.

 

The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, St Margaret's, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace among other places.  Cate declared it 'the most courteous big city in the world.' Andy called it one of the 'most photogenic,' and Brian...well he was just happy to be out of the kayak for a bit.

This isn't particularly a great photograph. Though all the right elements were there to create one: a golden sunset; a green grassy paddock full of fluffy white sheep; the Thames River in the background quietly meandering amongst overhanging willow trees; and a man walking mostly naked in a Speedo.

[Photo Gallery] Across The Pond & Into The River


Almost two weeks ago, The World Tri Expedition team headed off from Des Moines and across the Atlantic Ocean to England to begin the first leg of The World Triathlon.  Since then, the team has learned how to drive on the left side of the road, what it's like to order 'fish and chips' from a 'take away' shop and what happens to a man who swims 5-8 hours a day for 14-days.
